Here are some hints about how to get around and do things in Valley of the Nile.

Click where you want your avatar to go and it will walk or swim to that point.

To communicate with other visitors, just start typing and your words will appear at the bottom of the screen (there's no need to select anything). Hit the Enter key to send your message to other visitors on the same page as you.

Click on the dark maroon border area to move to another page.

Every new visitor enters Valley of the Nile near the location of the visitor who has most recently entered. If there are no other players, first-time visitors enter at a spot beside the Nile. Repeat visitors re-enter at the place where they left off.

Your avatar cannot walk through solid walls, but it can go into buildings by walking through doorways. However, some buildings are locked and require a key.

Click slowly. If you click repeatedly it can actually make things go slower. All user input travels to the server and back before it has an effect on your screen. This takes about a second and a half. (In cases of server congestion, a notice may appear at the bottom of the window indicating exceptionally long lag conditions.)
